Learning with Your iPod

iPodResources.jpgMany of you already owned an iPod, and I’m sure quite a few more found one under the Christmas tree this year. Obviously, they’re great for listening to music, but they’re much more than a music device. They’re also a powerful learning tool. The two vidcasts below highlight some of the ways that can turn your iPod into a wonderful learning accessory. Underneath, I’ve added additional resources to make the most of what is really a computer in your pocket.

Here’s a list of web sites and resources for your iPod (I’ll be glad to add any resource that you may find post on your own blog; better still, why not blog about your own learning experiments with the iPod):

General :

Text

    iPod Notes (freeware)
Backpack (freeware to create and share lists)

iWriter (affordable software to create notes and quizzes)

myNotes (affordable software to create notes and quizzes)

Dictionaries

Quizzes :

Podcasting :

Video :

Audio :

GhostReader (affordable software that converts documents to audio files)
Pediaphon (Web site that converts a Wikipedia article into an MP3 file)

    Pediaphon (French Wikipédia)

I wish I had a Ipod or an other MP3 player... =( But, with all my games and such, I can't complain! =P Great article that will be useful for Ipod users! Écrit par Theplayer131 le 9 janvier 2008

I own an iPod since september, but for te software that's "affordable", such as the ones to create quizzes and such, what happened to paper and pencil? Or if it must be on a computer, why not use Microsoft Word, which almost everyone has on there computer? Écrit par Adriel le 10 janvier 2008

Thanks for your comment Adriel. The beauty of the iPod, and its power from a learning perspective, lies in its mobility. You cannot have your computer in your pocket at all times. Écrit par François Guité le 10 janvier 2008

True... But still, don't your eyes get even more damaged when you focus on a smaller screen? Écrit par Adriel le 12 janvier 2008

Ok, I was wrong about the eye damage part... Or was I? I'll be posting an article on my blog soon, so you can read about computer-caused eye damage. Écrit par Adriel le 17 janvier 2008

les Hells n'ont pas aimé cette maneuvre et ont incendié le manoir... Vous devriez ne pas porter de jugement sans en avoir les preuves. Écrit par le 9 février 2008
